NetBait Service FAQ
Can I just have one Host and no additional IP addresses?
Yes. The NetBait Host System includes one IP address by default. You can have up
to 15,000 additional IP addresses for each Host.
Why would I need more than one Host?
The are three possible situations where you may need to configure additional
NetBait Host(s):
If the global network consists of several physically separated
sub-networks and the Host-assigned IP-routing cannot be properly implemented
due to network-specific constraints, then it would be necessary to configure
additional NetBait Host(s).
The dynamic behavior of IP addresses is based on the NetBait Host
configuration. Therefore, the same Host-assigned IP addresses display similar
elements when scanned, which is resolved by strategically placing them
throughout your network. If, however, you want to have
multiple behavioral patterns for your IP addresses, then another Host would
be an easy and affordable solution.
Any given NetBait Host supports up to 15,000 IP addresses. If the number
of IP addresses exceeds 15,000, then it would be necessary to configure
another Host.
All Hosts are configured and viewed from the same account and have their
Host-specific log reports.
Why would I need to have additional IP addresses configured to the
Host(s)?
The number of IP addresses associated with any given NetBait Host is inversely
proportional to the possibility of a successful intrusion through the actual
target on the network. In other words, if you "surround" the actual
target with 9 NetBait-generated targets, an intruder would have a 1 in 10 chance
of success. Intruder's chances drop even more because the fake targets most
likely show a much more "attractive" network behind the scanned IP
address than the network behind the actual target, which forces intruder to
spend precious time to break through them.
How can I make changes to my NetBait account configuration?
No matter where business takes you, it is critical to keep the network data
secure. That is why you may always change/update your system configuration
without being physically close to the home office with the help of NetBait
Service's web-based management interface. All you need to do is log into your
NetBait Service account profile, modify the configuration as necessary, download
the new image and update your Host platform PC.
What is my NetBait Image?
An image is a compressed archive that stores your unique Host-IP configuration.
Each image corresponds to one NetBait Host and associated IP addresses. It is
necessary to download the image and install it on your PC for the NetBait
Service to start communicating with Netlogiclab's servers. If you change your
NetBait configuration (upgrade/downgrade), you will need to update the Host
Configuration table and download a new image. The actual size of the downloaded
image is a little over 1 MB.
What do I need to write an Image?
To properly write an image, you would need to have a utility called RAWRITE.
This utility is widely available from many sources, including the Image Download
page of our site, and works with multiple operating systems.
Can the same Image be used on multiple computers?
Each NetBait image is unique because it stores information about NetBait PC's
network card driver and parameters, gateway address and proxy information, as
well as the address and subnet mask of NetBait itself. Therefore, if you have
identical computers which conform to the characteristics of the NetBait Image,
then you may use multiple computers to load the image, although not
simultaneously.
Can the same Image be used on two computers at the same time?
While technically possible, it is not advisable to have two computers with the
same image on the same network. If you load the same configuration on multiple
computers, you will encounter network problems associated with the same IP
address(es).
Can the same Image be used on different networks?
Yes, but you first need to make sure that both networks conform to all
image-specific parameters.
Do I need a static IP?
Yes, to properly configure each NetBait Host, you need to assign between one and
15,000 static IP addresses to this Host, but it is absolutely irrelevant whether
these IP addresses are private or public.
Can I use NetBait with other products?
Yes. NetBait Service will not interfere with any other network security tools.
How often can I access my account?
You can access your NetBait Service account profile as often as you want, 24/7,
365 days a year.
